Postseason disappointment
Since I’m a pretty die hard Braves fan and longtime Stars fan, I’m pretty much immune to postseason heartbreaks. And no I’m not whining about why my teams always get so close and lose because I realize Pirates, Browns, and fans of other annual doormat teams would trade places with me any day.
But after jumping on the Memphis bandwagon after they beat the Longhorns, that championship game for the ages was a little upsetting. That may or may not have to do with my recent man crush admiration I’ve developed for Derrick Rose but to see them lose on free throws made me want to hurl.
Guys, seriously? Free throws? I never understood why even some NBA players have so much trouble with free throws, and I think we would all agree that it’s definitely one of the easiest parts of basketball. And for a team like Memphis to collectively suck at the line is just mind boggling. I mean come on, even a little girl can do it. Although, making 84 out of 100 is damn impressive. Way to go Libby.
I’m just glad that I’m still in college which means I have no money or else I probably would’ve bet invested a large chunk of money on the Memphis “How do I shoot a free throw” Tigers.
As many or none of you know, the hockey playoffs start tonight and like most years, the Stars are in the playoffs. And like most years, I’ve already prepared myself for an early exit. It also doesn’t help when most of the “experts” are against your team.
In need of some faith restoration, I called upon my hockey correspondent, BKizzle and asked him what he thought of the Stars’ chances.
“a few ["experts"] are picking the Stars…one of the analysts on ESPN thinks dallas in seven, but yeah, a lot are picking anaheim. but dallas scored nearly 50 more goals than anaheim in the regular season and only gave up about 10 more, and dallas’ special teams are on a completely different level (in a good way) than anaheim’s, even with niedermayer in and zubov out. plus, everyone says anaheim is the more physical team, but the three hit leaders for anaheim have 160, 150, 130 hits while morrow, robidas and ott alone have 260, 220 and 160.
assuming marty can do this year what he did last year I call a pronger suspension in the first two games which leads to dallas in six…hopefully.”
So there you have it ladies (look who’s a Ducks’ fan, stupid bitch) and gents, as long as this doesn’t happen to Modano, Ribeiro or Morrow, we’ll be fine. Hope for some early upsets so we won’t have to play the Red Wings who probably can beat the USA Dream Team right now. What?! That’s a different sport?!?
Mid-Week Dump
- More reason to hate T.O. and be ashamed of “America’s Team” if you’re a Cowboys fan: T.O. joins forces with Flavor Fav on T.V. It’s being compared to Fresh Prince of Bel-Air except less awesome and no Will or Jeffery (or Geoffrey since he was British).
- Way to go Baltimore Orioles PR staff. Adam Jones, one of the prized prospects in the Bedard trade, is quite photogenic.
- Why stress over all the negative Olympic torch coverage when you can play this amazingly addictive game. (Try to beat my high score of 65!)
- More New York Knicks stuff. It’s amazing that people still show up to take pictures during their games.
“Dont look up! Isiah is going to put us in!”
