Making up for last week

Aside from the great weekend of games, last week was a pretty slow sports week both in news and in relevant games. Here’s a rundown of my favorite stories from last week.

  • By now you’ve probably all seen these photos of Matt Leinart partying with 19 and 20 year old coeds. A lot of people made a big deal about this, saying how this isn’t the way a franchise QB is supposed to act blah blah. But seriously, let the man be! He really hasn’t done jack in the NFL so who knows if he’ll be around much longer. Before you know it, he’ll end up just like any other douche partying it up with underagers. The real question we should be asking is what the hell is Nick Lachey doing at these parties? You’re 34 man, about time to move on from the frat days. And in case you thought, Matt is discriminatory, well he likes guys too. On a sidenote, Alex Smith decided to do his best Leinart impression. Again another prospect that hasn’t done jack.
  • Okay so the Kansas City Royals (4-2, 1st in AL Central by the way) released a calendar for charity last week. (via SportsByBrooks)Now it’s nothing fancy, in fact its pretty aesthetically displeasing, but the point is I applaud anyone that can name any player in that calendar. You are one true Royals fan.
  • Just when I thought the Mavs might not make the playoffs, the Nuggets suck even more. Right after losing to the Kings Saturday night, they do the impossible and lose to the Sonics. Someone seriously explain to me how this team with that kind of lineup is this bad… Woody Paige of Cold Pizza and Around the Horn infamy attempts to do so here. (By the way, if you had trouble reading that lead, you’re not alone…)
  • Two of my favorite things to do here on Practice and Playoffs? is to a)put up interesting clips, articles or anything related to the awesomeness that is Dikembe Mutombo and b)make fun of the New York Knicks. Well today I feel like doing the latter. With the country in recession and everything costing more than it used to, I’m glad the New York Knicks still put their money to good use. I’m with Isiah, it’s just so hard to get anything with $187 million these days.
  • Hey guys, I found three reasons to watch a Rangers game! Although, I’m not a big fan of Asians or anybody for that matter dying their hair blonde. And yea yea I know they’re doing decent, 2nd in the West blah blah, just give it time. Soon enough Milton Bradley will go bonkers and probably punch some little kid in the face.

One more thing: this just became official, Friday Night Lights is back! Now I’ll just have to find a way to get DirecTV, or I could just keep downloading legally obtaining my TV shows. Okay enough updates because apparently blogging can cause death.
